Work Experiences

Systems Integration & Test Engineer Intern
Thermo Fisher Scientific — During my time in Guilford, CT, I was investigating pipette tip filter failures for the Ion Chef System by developing build cases for the 100,000 failed tips, testing those tips, and analyzing the collected data using JMP software. Throughout testing, I also was able to discover a filter manufacturing issue. My testing resulted in the conclusion of a two year long operation.
In addition to this project, I evaluated the fluidic issues of 15 newly developed Sequencer Systems by using pressure sensor measurements to isolate leaks in the system.
Rapid Prototyping Engineer Intern
Spectrum Plastics Group — During my time in Salt Lake City, UT, I was faced with the issue of battery failure of an injection molded, heart rate monitor fused with silicone. I conducted a root cause analysis to identify the defects and then used SolidWorks along with additive manufacturing to create modified designs, which helped in reducing the number of total product faults by 30 percent.
Apart from diagnosing individual design defects, I made sure that I interacted with other teams in the office to learn about what was going on in our cleanrooms. I was lucky enough to work side by side with the leads of the catheter manufacturing process and the extrusion cleanroom and learned about precision assembly, material behavior under stress and clean room protocols.

New Product Innovation Co-op
GE Appliances — In this co-op role in Louisville, KY, I addressed internal moisture management by redesigning and implementing a cost-effective vent damper system by redesigning airflow paths in SolidWorks. This process also included running various day-long tests to ensure the damper was working properly. This resulted in a moisture retention reduction 25 percent, directly boosting overall product durability and resolving a key customer dissatisfaction.
I also conducted an analysis of AC and DC drain pump systems using oscilloscope data to better understand which of the two will be more efficient in future platform designs. Through this performance comparison study, I also developed a testing platform for future pumps and I provided valuable insights regarding how we should pick components for future products.
Material Cost Take Out Co-op
GE Appliances — During my time on the Dishwasher team in Louisville, KY, my work was associated with material cost take-out efforts, specifically, identifying field failure trends and promoting process efficiencies across departments. For one example, I used condensation tests on concession returns to pinpoint gasket problems in the main doors of the dishwashers. As a result of this approach, and subsequent design changes based on my findings, I managed to decrease the number of warranty claims by 20 percent.
Apart from this, I was involved in creating connections between various departments, such as engineering, quality, and manufacturing, which allowed for an improved execution of processes on the factory floor. As a result of the efficient communication and coordination of interests of different departments, I managed to implement a production process that decreased the amount of wasted dishwasher components by 4 percent.

Supply Chain Intern
Fastenal — I managed every phase of the supply chain process, including purchase orders, delivery, and invoicing, resulting in 100% user satisfaction. I analyzed current inventory systems to identify recurring inefficiencies and waste, and identified underlying disturbances within the supply chain process at a domestic level.

Mechanical Engineering Intern
Kroeschell Inc. — My work focused on drafting and designing hydraulic system for complex commercial and specialized facilities. I prepared isometric and orthographic drawings in AutoCAD to layout the electrical and plumbing infrastructure for airplane hangars.
Along with this, I conducted piping system evaluations, utilizing Pipe Edge Expert. As this was my first engineering internship, it provided me a strong foundation in mechanical system layout and standard engineering drafting practices that I would use later in my career.
Pool Manager, Lifeguard, Swim Coach & Swim Lesson Instructor
Arlington Heights Park District — As a pool manager, I supervised the lifeguarding team and managed the pool’s financial needs during hours of operation. As a lifeguard, swim coach, and swim lesson instructor, I regulated pool operations and safety, mastering life-saving techniques and first aid for 400–600 patrons daily, and instilled a passion for swimming in over 100 children ages 6–12.
